What happened to DiscoverLibrary?

In July 2018, the Vanderbilt Libraries moved from DiscoverLibrary and Acorn to an entirely revamped digital footprint including a new Integrated Library System (the Library Catalog search and back-end operations), as well as a new library web presence, and improved course reading list software. These changes were based on input and feedback from students and faculty.

The Library Catalog we are now using is used by most of the leading research libraries, including Harvard, the British Library, and Princeton, so we are in good company. Our goal has been to provide a more powerful search engine, while making the resources of Vanderbilt’s Libraries easier to search.

Training dates for our new search system can be found on this workshop calendar.

Check out this What Am I Searching guide for a breakdown of the various Library Catalog searches.

One caveat with DiscoverLibrary: if you have saved searches/items within your current library account, they will not transfer to our new system. But don’t worry, we can help you retrieve them. Contact us through Ask a Librarian for assistance.
