Answer

When a patron recalls a book, the current book holder is given a 7 day notice to return the book. Generally, most patrons will bring the book back within 7 days.

Another option when a book is checked-out for a longer loan period is to request the checked-out title through interlibrary loan (ILL). Often you will get the title through ILL as quickly as you might from having someone return the book.

The "Search Kudzu" button that shows in Acorn when a book is checked-out is one way to get to the ILL option. If you use the ILL link ( https://illiad.library.vanderbilt.edu/illiad/ill/logon.html ), you will want to note that our copy is checked-out.
